Up until this date:
-I got a new job
-I saw Harry Potter part 2, Booed it at the end, more on that later in the post.
-Did I mention that my new job is as a delivery driver for Hungry Howie’s? well it is.
-I was in Barnes and Nobles heading towards the comic book section, but when I got there this dude in a navy uniform started talking to me. I thought at first he was just strange, but it turns out he was a recruiter. I took some pamplets and will now avoid that section for a while. Jeez recruiters, keep your recruiting to high school job fairs and malls!
All this and more might be discussed because I was trying to get to sleep one night, but I couldn’t turn off my thoughts, so I started to write them down so the total 3 or four of you can read it and I can go back to sleep.
Firstly and foremostly, I didn’t like the latest Harry Potter movie. They Mutilated the ending! It seems like they took the cliff notes version of the book, then mutilated that, then made it into a movie. The reasons I don’t like Harry Potter 7 part 2 are thus: Harry was given no congratulations or glory for defeating Voldemort, Many events of the ending were either shortened, left out, or put in wrong chronological order, and Harry’s son (sorry, SPOILER ALERT) has a pet ferret when he is leaving for Hogwarts.
To begin with, Harry was given no congratulations and/or glory for his saving everyone’s collective life. Right after harry defeats Voldemort, he gets nothing, not one clap. Just a bunch of self-absorbed brats that don’t even look up from telling their own war stories to say “Hey Harry, thanks for killing Voldemort. If it wasn’t for you, we’d all be dead.” Nothing. Frodo was equally as brave as Harry and he had a whole kingdom bow down to him and his hobbit friends. The only thing close to that was the audience clapping when the movie ended, but even then, its too late, you’re just applauding the end credits. I booed when everyone else clapped. Not for long, out of fear of a mob forming instantly and then attemping to cast curses at me with their wands. ‘nuf of that, lets move on.
Next, many events were either shortened, left out, or put in wrong chronological order. This is the one reason why I didn’t like this movie. They disfigured the final battle SO MUCH! The setting was wrong. The time of day was wrong. The way it happened was WRONG. I was willing to forgive Warner Bros for all the earlier movies if they got this scene right, but they couldn’t even get this one scene right, along with many scenes leading to the final battle and many after. They could’ve at least put in the one part of the book that I’m sure everyone cried when they read it, (I almost did. So far the only time I cried was while reading Where the Red Furn Grows and I think Rascal) the scene where Harry and friends go up to the headmasters office after Voldemort was defeated and all the past headmasters are applauding Harry. I thought for sure they would put this in the movie. They would have the Harry Potter theme playing in a grand style and there would be some slow panning of the camera, then cut to Harry’s face with a single tear running down his cheek. So cinematic. But absent from the movie! And one more thing while I’m still in this paragraph. Neville kills the snake before the final battle even begins, not right at the last minute to add more tension. I’m pretty sure there’s already enough tension between Harry and Voldemort. They have been fighting for around 7 years! Rubbish.
Nextly, Harry’s son has a ferret as a pet!! What’s he gonna do with that!? He surely can’t deliver messages with it or have it save his life in part one of the 7th movie? You could argue that Neville had a pet toad. Yes, he did, but you don’t see him carrying it around when he turns into Rambo Neville. That kid’s gonna have issues later in life. And also, even at the station, no one even looks at Harry. In the book they did, and Ron made a joke about it.
In conlusion, movies will never be better that the books they are made from. (except Lord of the Rings) For this reason, everyone should read more, and never see the movie about the book they just read, but pretend to have seen it and talk about the movie and when you start talking about your favorite parts, your friends will be all “That wasn’t in the movie. What movie did you see?” and you will reply, “I saw the original movie as the author intended it to be. Its called READING THE BOOK and the movie plays out in your mind, where no Hollywood bigwigs can ruin it for you and steal your money, leaving you disappointed and full of rage and the only way to get rid of that rage is to either go to Hollywood and punch the director in the face, or write a long ranting blog post to vent the rage.”
Wow. I feel better already.
Now that I have written my longest post ever, I will leave the following subjects to be covered later in the week:
-My new job as a delivery driver (spoiler alert: I get paid to sing along to the radio!) (but only in my car)
-A surprise of sorts
-If I can manage it, I will have a soundtrack to my next post, but I am doubtful of it. I am hopeless at doing anything beyond basic functions on a computer. But I will try and then you could listen to me playing random notes on my electric guitar that I have assembled into a melody while watching television.
-A movie that I didn’t hate
